You will laugh but i have been ill since landing ,didn't even make it out of the hotel in Delhi...mind you the area was shut down because of the Common wealth games, the polution was horrific and the hotel was beautiful....
Ali now has caught my toncilytis oh noooo!
Gaia is doing better but still has the worst caugh.
We are quite THE trio!
We have now landed in Bhutan which is so beautiful from the air that tears started surfacing...
We had the Chief of cabinet and the Governor and other officials who were just sitting in front of us and were so friendly and lovely,so different for our politicians.Really into ecology ,organic products and their peoples happyness etc....73percent of the country is still virgin forest.Shangrila it is.
The Bhutanese are beautiful, and so is our guide Pam (Ali is subcoming to her charms)and our other guide is called Karma! The guys all run around in wonderful chequered skirts so it's fun to get to check out guys legs for a change.
If men are wearing skirts...certainly a Scot must have passed by!
ReplyDeleteWe have been following this Motley crew of adventurers for the last 3 days ... the "Bhutan Gang" they call themselves. why not? Sounds like they might be an offshoot of the Mexican Mafia turned Buddhist. Strange activities and behavior has been reported by the various hotel managers along the way which has led to believe that these folks are getting ready for some type of UM (undisclosed mission). Loud huffs and puffs are keeping other hotel guests awake through the night for which one of the GM's (general manager) deployed a special intelligence team to drill a periscope entry from the floor below to spy into their large suite's sitting room. It turned out it was much to do about nothing, the Bhuttan Gang were going about their daily drill of sit ups and special training...
ReplyDeleteWe suddenly get an SMS from the night porter, one of the gang maul's has just called room service to request a pack of Bhutanese special mix to be delivered asap. It seems that this fellow named Cudderford ( the leader of the gang) is trying to get a little levitation to be part of his crew's daily drill...what will happen next is just speculation...
We have just returned from dinner with our friend Jigme Thinley, Bhutan's prime minister no less, who was thrilled that Alix (the 2nd in Command of the BG's)had told him a lot of spicy jokes just before touching down in Thimpu. This he said greatly alleviated his long time fright of plane landings. He thought the episode so terribly amusing that he ordered the captain to abort touch down and have another go, just to have another giggle!! Can you believe that!? Amazing the whims one can have as a PM on ones national airline. Something worth getting into politics for...
ReplyDeleteI love this blog !!!
ReplyDeleteKeep the infos coming, it's just as if we were in your heads
(oh, what a ride!)
Welcome aboard Emmanuel! We can DHL you a little herbal mix and trust me you will be right here with us, no need for a long trans Asian ride or the ensuing jet lag. Just had a toke of it and hardly made it up the flight of stairs to my 4th floor 7th arrondissement penthouse. By the time I made it to my couch I was huffing and puffing and the buildings across the street looked like
ReplyDeletethe Himalayan range! The Bhutan Gang's portable world phone is not responding....over!
Goffredaki, The reason for the short skirts or tunics is that in the 16th century the royal palace caught fire and the floors that were made of wood combusted, thus burning from the bottom up, by the time everyone was outside safe and sound their attire was missing a third! Thankful for having their lives spared and for not being burned to a crisp, they decided to honor their Gods by continuing to dress in the attire that had been tailored for them by the palace fires, now considered sacred ...
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, you sound like my kind of dude.
ReplyDeleteQuestion though: why climb up the stairs when you can smoke and fly ?
Good point! I guess only to get my hardware out of the way of those foot climbers not on herbal mix! It usually feels better to come to in ones private quarters than by the mail box! (at least for me!)
ReplyDeletemeanwhile back in blighty i,m cooking for your 3rd!!!! who,s got that right!!!dinner on me for the first to neck a pint of yak,s milk....ceej
ReplyDeleteOops! Looks like the Yak milk did them in...!!
ReplyDeleteGround control to BG ...over! ...
(2 days later) ... still no response!
Out of herbal mixx!
Anyone got news...?
looks so beautiful but just hope your tonsils have recovered from the excessive amounts of fresh air.
ReplyDeleteFresh air!! Goodness! Hadn't thought of that!! None of these blokes are used to fresh air! That in itself spells danger for urban critters who need a daily doze of carbon monoxide to survive. We're calling Himalayan Sentinels Co. immediately to inquire about that. (Good call Damian!)...
ReplyDelete(15 minutes later)
...All well!! Himalayan Sentinels are incredibly detailed in their organization. They just assured us that all was under control and that one of their Sherpa's ahead of the group has a little burner to release small amounts of Co so that the BG's do not suffer from what is referred to by the Bhutanese as "fresh air dizzy'mun" syndrome. A disagreable event that induces visions of heavy city traffic and fainting spells to those climbing through areas of extreme air purity. And who needs that in the Himalaya's?!
Amazing the things one learns just by following these intrepid climbers!! God speed!
